Renewing Subscriptions on Sale Now
Sacramento, CA (February 24, 2015) – The Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera returns to the Community Center Theater stage for its 2017-2018 season after another record-breaking year. The Classics Series season will open on October 14, 2017 with Brahams’ Symphony No. 1 and acclaimed violinist Rachel Barton Pine’s dramatic interpretation of Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 1. Ms. Pine has performed regularly with the orchestra. Mirroring the 2016-2017 season’s Beethoven Festival, the 2017-2018 season will boast a two weekend festival focusing on Russian Composers. Internationally celebrated pianist, Andrew von Oeyen, will be in residency for the entirety of the Russian Festival. This six-concert Classics series will conclude with one of the operatic repertoire’s most performed and beloved works, Puccini’s Tosca, on May 5, 2018.
The Pops Series will once again commence on Thanksgiving Day Weekend with an unforgettable evening of the “Music of Prince” in honor of the music icon. Collaborating alongside the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera will be a rock band to perform Prince’s greatest hits. Tickets are expected to sell out. Purchasing a Pops Series Subscription is strongly recommended to secure the “Music of Prince” tickets.
Pricing remains “patron-centric” and has not increased for the 17-18 Seasons. Subscription packages start at $135 for the six concert Classics Series and $111 for the Pops Series. Packages for returning patrons are on sale now and subscriptions for new patrons will be on sale in mid-April. Subscriptions may be purchased by calling our box office at 916-594-7333.
Repertoire, artists, and conductors were programmed and selected by Erik Rӧnmark, Artistic Advisor to the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera, who is also the Vice President and General Manager of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
