Vaughn Irving

Vaughn Irving is a celebrated director, producer, writer, and actor who has worked in the theatre industry since 2004. He has worked on over 100 productions at theatres in 9 states and the District of Columbia, where his award winning original musicals, Disco Jesus and the Apostles of Funk, and You or Whatever I Can Get, both premiered to sold-out crowds. His original work “reaches a kind of generational truth most young artists are not yet capable of telling.” (DC Theatre Scene) He spent 5 years as the Artistic Director at the Santa Fe Playhouse in his hometown of Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he produced 33 productions and directed 13, including the regional premier of Fun Home and the world premiere of No Number Home. Vaughn holds a BFA in Music Theatre from Illinois Wesleyan University and an MA in Arts Administration from the University of Kentucky. While Vaughn is new to the opera world, he believes that storytelling through music can act as a window to the soul and reveal human truths that are otherwise impossible to access.
