Phoebe Chee

Soprano

2025-26 Season

Phoebe Chee has been hailed by SPOT as “one of Singapore’s most promising young sopranos.” She is praised for her “strong and consistent range” with “bursts of ferocity and vocal splendors.” In comedic roles, such as Despina and Susanna, Chee has been described as “sweet and sassy” with a masterful comedic timing, but can equally embody the emotional intensity of a tragic protagonist.

Highlights of recent seasons include Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Pamina (The Magic Flute) with Livermore Valley Opera; Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi) at Chautauqua Amphitheater; title role of Cendrillon at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Adina (L’elisir d’amore) with OperaNeo.

Chee continues to push vocal boundaries as she explores and masters early music through contemporary works. Concert appearances include Mozart’s Exsultate Jubilate with Stanford Symphonic Chorus; Getty’s Saint Christopher with San Francisco Symphony; Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Adams’ Grand Pianola. Beyond working on the classics, Chee is passionate in collaborating and working with composers of today.

In the last year, Chee has won numerous awards such as the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition as a San Francisco District winner, a Regional Encouragement Award in Los Angeles, CS Music Vocal Competition and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Concerto Competition.

Upcoming performances include covering Curley’s Wife in Of Mice and Men with Des Moines Metro Opera this summer; and a world premiere with Opera Parallèle in Sankaram’s Taking Up Serpents in 2027.

Chee is currently at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music finishing her Masters in Music with César Ulloa. She maintains an active presence on social media where you can join her on her journey as a modern day opera singer. Join her on Instagram at @phoebsoprano .
